Cancer Cure Scam Precautions

There are few afflictions in the world that evoke as much fear as cancer, which in 2007 accounted for thirteen percent of all deaths in the world. Because of this fear, many a cancer cure scam has been marketed to the public by people who specialize in preying on innocent people in this way.

Before people spend money on a product advertised as being a cure for cancer, they should inform themselves as much as they can regarding the reputable scientific data on the causes of cancer and methods of curing and preventing it.

Do not be fooled by people in white coats and claims of studies and research; you need to be sure that the people talking about this are real oncologists and that the studies are legitimate scientific ones that have been subjected to peer review and whose results have been replicated by independent researchers.

The fact is that the causes of cancer are not all that well understood. These causes have something to do with mutations that cause cells to eventually multiply in an uncontrollable way.

Normally the body can manage the mutations, but there are conditions under which this management doesn't work well enough and cancer develops. Cancer research concentrates mostly on how to prevent these conditions from arising, and secondly on stopping the uncontrollable cell growth from continuing once it has begun.

Usually a cancer cure scam involves the use of a food, such as apricot pits or raw milk, or a vitamin or herb, or some combination of these, or perhaps a new diet altogether. Unfortunately the scientific evidence that any foods, dietary regimes or vitamins do much to reduce your chances of getting cancer is scarce, and there is even less evidence that they can cure a cancer that already exists.

What does work for prevention is to change your lifestyle so as to reduce your exposure to a whole range of substances and conditions that have been scientifically linked to cancer risk, such as nicotine, asbestos, alcohol, refined sugars, and obesity. Doing this does not guarantee you won't get cancer, but it does greatly reduce the risk, as does using certain drugs for some kinds of cancers.

The only treatments that have been scientifically demonstrated to be effective for cancer that already exists should really be regarded in almost all cases as management treatments instead of cures, because the cancer can come back.

The treatments include monoclonal antibody therapy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. If you fall victim to a cancer cure scam, you could not only lose money but also do serious damage to your health, so please, do your homework!
